Turkana County is headquartered in Lodwar, and comprises of the following sub-counties; Turkana Central, Turkana East, Turkana North, Turkana South, Turkana West, Loima. Its neighbouring counties are West Pokot, Baringo, Samburu, Marsabit, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda. Turkana main economic activities are Pastoralism, fishing, oil, tourism, trade.

About Turkana County

Turkana County occupies Kenya's northwestern region bordering Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, West Pokot, Samburu, Marsabit and Baringo. Lodwar is the county headquarters. The county consists of arid plains, volcanic hills and the western shores of Lake Turkana. The Turkana community forms the majority of the population and maintains a rich pastoral culture. Livestock production, fishing, tourism and oil extraction are key economic activities. Lake Turkana supports fisheries and attracts visitors for its scenery and archaeological heritage. Historically the county is internationally recognized for fossil discoveries around Koobi Fora, earning the region global significance in the study of human evolution.
