Its neighbouring counties are Bungoma, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, West Pokot. Trans-Nzoia main economic activities are Maize, wheat, dairy, horticulture, commerce.

About Trans-Nzoia County

Trans Nzoia County is located in Kenya's Rift Valley region, bordering West Pokot, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma and Uganda. Kitale is the county headquarters. The county lies on the fertile Trans Nzoia Plateau with rich volcanic soils, reliable rainfall and a cool climate that favour agriculture. Its diverse population includes Kalenjin, Luhya, Kikuyu, Luo and Kisii communities. Agriculture is the backbone of the economy, producing maize, wheat, dairy products, horticultural crops and certified seeds. Agro-processing, commerce and education also contribute significantly. The county's cultural diversity is reflected in its festivals, music and cuisine. Historically, Trans Nzoia became one of Kenya's principal agricultural settlement areas and remains vital to national food security.
