Samburu County is headquartered in Maralal, and comprises of the following sub-counties; Samburu East, Samburu North, Samburu West. Its neighbouring counties are Baringo, Isiolo, Laikipia, Marsabit, Turkana. Samburu main economic activities are Pastoralism, livestock, tourism, beekeeping.

About Samburu County

Samburu County is located in northern Kenya bordering Turkana, Marsabit, Isiolo, Laikipia and Baringo counties. Maralal is the county headquarters. The county is characterized by rugged hills, open savannahs and the Ewaso Nyiro River. The Samburu community preserves a distinctive pastoral culture known for colourful attire, beadwork, music and traditional ceremonies. Livestock keeping is the leading economic activity, complemented by tourism through Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba National Reserves. Small-scale farming occurs along river valleys. Historically Samburu has remained an important centre of pastoral heritage, wildlife conservation and cultural tourism while continuing to invest in education and infrastructure.
