Migori County is located in southwestern Kenya, bordering Homa Bay, Kisii, Narok, Tanzania and Lake Victoria. Migori Town is the county headquarters. The county features fertile highlands, river valleys, plains and lakeshore areas supporting agriculture and trade. Communities include the Luo, Kuria and Suba. Tobacco, sugarcane, maize, bananas, horticulture and livestock farming are major economic activities, alongside fishing, gold mining and cross-border trade with Tanzania. Historically, Migori has been an important agricultural and commercial gateway between Kenya and Tanzania.
