About Kisumu County
Kisumu County lies on the northeastern shores of Lake Victoria, bordering Siaya, Vihiga, Nandi, Kericho, Homa Bay and Nyamira counties. Kisumu City is the county headquarters and Kenya's third-largest city. The county enjoys a warm climate, fertile plains and an extensive lakeshore supporting fishing, agriculture and commerce. Manufacturing, transport, tourism, healthcare and education are major economic sectors. Attractions include Dunga Wetlands, Kit Mikayi and the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary. Historically, Kisumu developed as a major railway terminus and port, becoming one of Kenya's leading commercial and industrial centres.
