About Busia County
Busia County is situated along Kenya's border with Uganda, bordering Bungoma, Kakamega, Siaya and Lake Victoria. Busia Town is the county headquarters and one of East Africa's busiest border crossings. Agriculture, fishing, transport and cross-border trade are the pillars of the economy. Major crops include maize, cassava, beans, rice, sugarcane and vegetables. The county is home mainly to the Luhya and Teso communities. Historically, Busia has served as a major gateway connecting Kenya with Uganda and the wider East African region through commerce and cultural exchange.
